Murphy Votes for Bill to Reduce Unsolicited Robocalls

December 4, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after voting in favor of S. 151, the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act. The bill, which has already advanced through the Senate, passed the House of Representatives today and awaits the President's signature to become law.

"As scammers continue to find new ways to pester and rip off consumers, our laws need to adapt to counter their strategies. That's why I voted for the TRACED Act today, which is a solution to this problem that seems to get worse every year. By implementing a nationwide caller authentication system and allowing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to more aggressively crack down on those who initiate prohibited or unsolicited robocalls, Americans will be better off. Let us hope it is soon the law of the land."
